Detroit Conference of the United Methodist Church Creating Interfaith Study Guide

The Detroit Conference of the United Methodist Church Commission on Christian Unity and Inter-religious Relationships is working on a study guide to sensitize major Christian faith groups (including but not limited to United Methodists) to the communication habits and cultural behaviors of other faith groups with the end goal of
  • increased understanding and awareness of major faith groups
  • developed listening skills to apply to team planning events
  • broadened strategies for social action which include all faith groups


   
    
Zaman International Walk4Humanity
Saturday, August 22

 
Zaman International iinvites you to their 6th Annual Walk4Humanity on Saturday, August 22, 2014. 

Join them for a 5k run or walk followed by a community celebration with food, refreshments, and activities for all ages. Activities include pony rides, games, a petting zoo, a photo booth, face painting, Disney characters and much more!

All proceeds from the 6th Annual Walk4Humanity assist marginalized women and children both locally and abroad.

Faith Communities Coalition on Foster Care


Wednesday, September 9 at 6:30 pm for reception and 7:00 pm at The Kirk in the Hills to hear inspirational stories and learn how you can help our children in foster care.  Mr. Hosner, Executive Director of Judson Center will be hosting a panel of foster children and their foster parents and Pastor Zo will be speaking on how you can support foster care children and parents.

The Faith Communities Coalition on Foster Care is a grass roots collaboration that provides a catalyst to educate and motivate congregations to engage in at least one project/program that will support our children in foster care or moving out on their own.

"Social determinants of health" are factors that impact our ability to achieve health and well-being. The "spiritual determinant" is one seldom mentioned among common determinants like housing, public safety, and fresh food distribution. Yet in the holistic balance of wellness, spirituality plays a key role.
