Vendor Spotlight

Windrift Hill
Did you know that 60% of whatever comes in contact with your skin is assimilated into your system? Each of our Nubian goats is hand milked two times daily to insure high quality milk for Windrift Hill products. Goat milk is a natural moisturizer that is high in proteins, minerals and vitamins that are easily absorbed into the skin. The number one reason for this is that healthy goats produce healthy milk equals healthy skin and hair.
Minnesota Honey Company -

The foundation for the retail concept came to the husband & wife team after selling the family honey products at farmers markets and the Minnesota State Fair.   The fair was one of the few places that local honey and honey products could be purchased from a number of local beekeepers in one place. The idea was planted and a few years later the couple felt the local market was ready for a locally sourced honey specialty store.

We would love to educate you on the diverse taste and uses of honey.  Honey is like wine in the way that it is reflective of the land where it comes from.  The flavors are exceptionally diverse in flavor and function and in need of understanding and enjoyment.  Honey is an artisanal and natural ingredient that can easily transition between the table, bathroom vanity and the gym.

Market Flowers
Loads of tropical flowers!

We are hanging onto a bit of the tropics this weekend. Just because we are creeping into fall that doesn't mean that you can't come listen to the tropical tunes of Sonny Del Ray and take home some of that tropical feeling with you.

Market Flowers is open Thursday and Friday 9am - 3pm,
Saturday and Sunday 7am - 1pm

Here's a link to the list of bulk flowers you can count on getting from us each week:

But remember, that's not ALL we carry!

You need to come see for yourself what special items we find for each week.

Recipes from the Market
Snickers Caramel Apple Pie
Yes I know that I just gave you an apple recipe last week, but I couldn't pass up sharing this scrumptious looking recipe from one of my favorite blogs I ♥ Naptime

Ingredients
  • 1 pie crust
  • 3 green apples diced
  • 1/4 cup caramel ice cream topping
  • 15-20 mini snickers chopped
  • 2 1/2 cup COOL WHIP whipped topping softened **Tip below
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 oz softened, cream cheese (could also substitute with one small packet of pudding)

*I personally replace the cool whip with sweetened real whipped cream of the same amount

Directions

  1. Spread snickers on bottom of pie crust. Next layer the apples next. Then drizzle caramel on top.
  2. Combine cool whip, cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk together in a small bowl and spread on top. (Side Note: I made this again and mixed the COOL WHIP, condensed milk and cream cheese in a bowl and then added the apples and snickers into that. Then I put it all in the pie crust).
  3. Drizzle with caramel and a few snickers. Place in refrigerator for at least 4 hours. Take out about 5 minutes before serving and top with fresh apple slices. Enjoy!
  4. **notes: this pie is best on the first day! if you want to keep the apples from browning, you can put a little lemon juice on them.
Chicken Pot Pie Casserole
Ingredients
  • tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 cups chopped carrots (approximately 4 medium)
  • 2 cups frozen peas
  • yellow onion, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 14.5-oz. can chicken broth

  • 10.5-oz. can cream of chicken soup

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1/4 cup flour (optional: use for a thicker sauce)

  • 9-inch refrigerated pie crust

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 2 ½-quart round baking dish with cooking spray and set aside. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the carrots, peas, onions, salt and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until veggies are soft and the onion is fragrant, 4 to 5 minutes.
  2. Add the chicken, chicken broth, soup, milk and flour (if using). Mix well and cook over medium-low heat for an additional 5 minutes.
  3. Pour the contents of the skillet into the prepared baking dish. Cover with the pie crust, letting the edges hang over the sides of the dish. Using a sharp knife, cut a few slits into the dough. Place baking dish on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until crust is lightly browned. Let cool for 10 minutes. Cut pizza-style and serve warm!
