| My sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one can snatch them out of my hand. ~Jesus John 10:27-28

Dear Friends and Family,
In our last update, we asked you to pray for us in regard to important meetings that were taking place in late March. We want you to know that God answered our prayers and yours. He was clearly present during the meetings and working in all our lives. We'd like to let you know of some important upcoming changes.
....And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good... Romans 8:28

We have been involved in ministry to Romania since 2003, and have lived in Romania full-time for just over 2 years. We expected to live here a very long time, and our desire was to continue here. However, it has become clear to us that God has closed the door to us for ministry in Romania. As many of you know, we are a "blended family," which is a nice way to say that we have the tragedy of divorces in our past. We united our families 28 years ago and have grown together in loving and serving God. We fully know that we are a testimony of God's grace in our lives and how he loves and pursues those whom He calls. However, we know that various cultures draw the lines differently regarding divorce and remarriage in the church. Good Christians everywhere hold strong views in this area, and in Romania, the Brethren church sees no provision for remarriage, regardless of the circumstances of the divorce. We did not think this would affect our opportunities to evangelize and disciple since we were not seeking to become elders or church leaders. However, we recently discovered that one hundred representative Brethren elders had discussed, agreed upon, and signed a position paper on divorce and remarriage which clearly precludes our serving with them as vocational missionaries. Their decision for us to leave therefore was not personal, but rather necessary to remain consistent with the agreed upon position of their movement's leadership. We are of course disappointed, but we submit to their stance and in no way want to be a stumbling block or hindrance to our beloved brothers (Romans 14:13). Therefore, we, along with Serve leadership, agree that we should move from Romania. |

We remain fully committed to God's mission in the world! We are open to whatever He has planned for us and are seeking His will and direction for future ministry location.
We have seen His hand already in the many things He has taught us and in the direction He is giving us. Our pastor, Tommy Nelson often says "God can't steer a parked car." We know God has a purpose for these changes, and we are committed to move forward and follow Him wherever He leads.
...who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of His own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began. 2 Timothy 1:9
It seems that God may be opening exciting new doors with the Austria team. Over the next few weeks, we will be prayerfully investigating the possibility of joining the team in Vienna. As part of this process, we will be returning to Denton for a short while to meet with Tim and Lori Ford, Austria team leaders, as well as investigate language study and Visa requirements. We will be more than happy to meet with you during this time to talk and pray about how God is leading us. We are hoping to finish things here in Timisoara and arrive in Denton sometime in the first part of May. We will keep you updated as things progress.

Special Praises....
Please know that while we are sad to leave, we still love Romania and the people here! In fact, we have made many dear friends here who will always be part of our lives. We are especially thankful to:
- Sam and Valetta Buliga and Stelica Buliga, with whom we served for 10+ years and who helped us in more ways than would fit in a newsletter.
- All the brothers and sisters at the churches here in Timisoara, especially Liviu Lozeanu and Titu Raducanu, who helped us with everything from finding our first apartment to taking us to the villages when we had no transportation.
- And Brother Catalin Covaci and the International Church, where we were able to be refreshed and encouraged, worshiping together in English!
We know that these are just names to most of you (we could list so many more....) but they opened their hearts and lives to us and we share many special memories of serving the Lord together.

Please continue to pray....
Please pray, as we do, that God's work in Romania continues and that He opens minds and hearts to know Him more deeply. Our specific prayer requests are below. If God brings us to your mind, please lift us up to the Father! - Pray for the lost in Romania, that many hearts are opened to understand His marvelous grace.
- Pray for the Christians in Romania, to know God and follow hard after Him; and for the church leaders as they shepherd the people.
- Pray for us that God confirms to us our next steps, and provides clear direction in the days ahead.
- Pray for His perfect will and timing in the details of this transition: arranging storage for our belongings, timely arrival in Denton, and provision of our needs for our time in the states.
Be assured that while we are sad to leave Romania, we know that this is not a surprise to God. As we pray, study God's word and seek His direction, we become more and more at peace and excited to see how God will use us in the future. You have been so faithful to support us in so many ways and we thank God for you! We covet your prayers and need your continued support more than ever as we press on together in this adventure with God.
