US 30 COALITION BEING FORMED
A group of business, citizens and local  government leaders across the northern part of Indiana are forming an organization to encourage state legislators and the  Indiana Department of Transportation to put a high priority on a major upgrade and improvement to US 30 from Fort Wayne to Valparaiso.  Traffic counts show that parts of US 30 have as high a traffic count as Interstate 65 and Interstate 69.   The volume of traffic has been growing steadily over the years.  Movement of product on trucks in and out of Chicago using US 30 is because of the congestion on Interstate 94.

Over the last four years a major upgrade was done on US 31 out of Indianapolis to Kokomo which had been a priority.   However in a year that project will be completed and leaders in the northern part of Indiana are trying to encourage US 30 as one of the State's next priority projects.  Rex Richards, President of the Valpo Chamber, is on the executive committee of the working group to formulate plans to encourage state government on the need to upgrade this important transportation artery.
CANDIDATE FORUM
On Tuesday, October 27, the Valpo Chamber and the League of Women Voters held a Candidate Forum, providing Valparaiso City Council candidates an opportunity to express their positions on various issues before the November elections.

In attendance were:
Robert Ordway, 1st District
Diana Reed, 1st District
Robert Cotton, 2nd District
Tim Daly, 2nd District
Matt Murphy, 3rd District
John M. Novak, 3rd District
John S. Bowker, 5th District
Norman Hudson, 5th District
Jan M. Dick, At Large
Trista A. Hudson, At Large
Debora Porter, At Large

City Council Candidates each made opening and closing remarks and answered several questions submitted by community members in attendance.

The Valpo Chamber strives each time there is a local election to bring all candidates together so members of the community can hear from each candidate and make informed decisions at the polls.

Thank you to Tom Carroll with NITCO for facilitating the event, and the League of Women Voters and the Memorial Opera House for their assistance with logistics.

If you live in Valparaiso, make sure you remember to vote on Tuesday, November 3.  If you are unsure of your polling location, not sure whether you are registered, or if you would like to work at a polling location, click here.
CHAMBER NETWORK NIGHT CONNECTED BUSINESSES

On Thursday, October 15, about 1,000 business professionals gathered at the Porter County Expo Center for Chamber Network Night.  This Porter County Chamber Coalition event is the premiere networking opportunity in Northwest Indiana.

Returning exhibitor, John Marx, owner of JM2 Webdesigners had this to say about the event:

"As a relatively new and growing company we strive for each chamber event that we attend to get two solid leads that have the potential to be new life long business partnerships and get the word out about our company brand and who we are as a company. By the end of the 2015 Chamber Network Night we were able to have nine new signed contracts from single page to many page websites along with five solid leads. We cannot say enough good words on what being part of the chamber has done for us as a company."

Thank you to all the exhibitors, sponsors and attendees who came out to the event.
Mark your calendars for next year's Chamber Network Night on Thursday, October 13, 2016.
NEW VALPARAISO CITY MAPS

If you would like a free copy of the new map, you can pick one up at the Valpo Chamber office, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES

Partner Program 2013The Valpo Chamber Partners (VCP) program, launched in 2006, provides members with options for streamlining their Chamber sponsorship opportunities, while enhancing their visibility and promotional opportunities.

This annual marketing campaign prominently promotes member businesses on signage, inside Chamber publications, on the website, on the new mobile app, and at events throughout the year. The VCP is a terrific way to gain extensive exposure and valuable name and logo recognition.

The VCP features four partner packages to choose from - Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze - at four price points. Each package includes incentives, complimentary tickets to events, special recognition and promotion, and sponsorship of high-profile networking and educational events.

To inquire about the available packages and their specific benefits, contact Danielle Oeding, at (219) 462-1105, [email protected].
