VALPO CHAMBER BOARD NOMINATIONS
| |
The nominating committee of the Greater Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for consideration in the election of five (5) members for the Board of Directors to serve a three year term from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2018. We would encourage you to consider nominating yourself or a key member of your organization.
Accepting a seat on the Board of Directors is a privilege that requires a commitment and responsibility in several areas. Among those required by the By-Laws are:
- Regular attendance at monthly and special Board meetings. (The Board meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:30 a.m.)
- Establish procedure and formulate policy for the Chamber
- Chair and/or participate in the Chamber's committees as requested
- Support and participate in Chamber activities
Please confirm your nominee's interest in serving on the Board and accepting the corresponding responsibilities should they be elected by obtaining their signature on the nomination form.

The Power of YOUR Stories is the topic for the fall Quarterly Membership Luncheon!
What do these three people all have in common? Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, and Steve Zelechoski...
They are all students of the famous Second City Improv Center in Chicago!
What do they NOT have in common? Well, first, although Stephen Colbert and Tina Fey spent months and years at Second City, Steve Zelechoski merely participated in a 5-day improv workshop there two years ago. More importantly, Stephen Colbert and Tina Fey are world-renowned entertainers, earning millions of dollars each year for their shows and movies.
Steve Zelechoski is not an entertainer, and he doesn't make millions of dollars each year. But, like those first two people, he understands the importance of storytelling. Not on the big or small screen, but in the conversations you have everyday with your clients, co-workers, and everyone else you need to influence. During his upcoming talk, you'll hear about The Power of YOUR Stories to better communicate with those around you.
For the past four years, Steve has worked as an independent sales training consultant, training Fortune 500 Sales Reps on the importance of storytelling in their customer conversations.
Join us on Tuesday, October 13, at the Valparaiso University Harre Union, as Steve brings the Power of YOUR Stories to the Valpo Chamber.

This year, the Valpo, Duneland, and Portage Chambers are changing up the theme of Network Night. It's all sports, all night! The possibilities are endless with creating your booth to fit the theme. Be creative and enjoy a touchdown, or a basket, or a home run, or a GOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLL!
Thursday, October 15, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., the Porter County Chamber Coalition will host the largest business-to-business networking event in the region.
 Last year, over 1,000 business professionals toured the Porter County Expo Center looking for the best new products and services offered in Porter County. The event is free to attend, so make sure you mark your calendar, because if you do business in Porter County, this is where you need to be!
