 Dear Supporters,

WE ARE HERE BECAUSE OF YOU!

With the continued support of the community, sponsors, volunteers, and affiliates, NVEEE has made great progress in the fight against bullying. We are excited to celebrate our one-year anniversary - October 20, 2010!

We have accomplished a great deal this past year; however, so much more needs to be done. The rash of teen suicides in September 2010 has really put things in perspective. As parents, educators, and community leaders, it's hard not to feel like we took two steps forward and ten steps backwards, but we must continue to know that every thing we do is making a difference.

You can actively help to propel NVEEE's success and establish a prominent voice in the community by becoming a Facebook fan, forwarding our newsletter, and encouraging friends, family, and associates to contribute to peace and acceptance, and not hate.

We thank you for your continued support.
                                                                  Sincerely,
                                                                  The Board of Directors

A NOTE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

HOW CAN WE BE SURE NVEEE IS REALLY MAKING A DIFFERENCE?

Because we feel like proud parents right now

Two of NVEEE's teen mentors, Jamia Barber, 13-years-old, and Brianna Spencer, 14-years-old, are running for class president in their Miami-Dade County middle schools.

"I recently became a teen mentor, and helping teens like Josie Lou Ratley inspired me to not be a bystander and to help as many kids as I possibly can.  This is why I am running for president of my eighth grade class."  -- Brianna Spencer

"When I see kids being bullied it reminds me of what my mom taught me not to do. You're not supposed to bully someones child.  So I'm running for president of my class because NVEEE is teaching me how to be leader and not a follower." -- Jamia Barber

As you can see, MENTORING WORKS, and we are reaching our goal of developing a successful teen-to-teen mentoring program, and these two outstanding students are the fruits of our labor. I AM EXCITED for what the future has in store. If you would have told me that within our first year, we would have helped to mold two at-risk teens into candidates in a presidential election... let's just say, I would not have imagined it.

These two teens are the change I can personally believe in!

                                                                                                       Sincerely,
                                                                                                       Jowharah Sanders
