AUCTION "FUND A NEED": MORE PLAY
We're excited to pre-announce the Paddles Up/Fund-A-Need target for this year's auction...MORE PLAY! At last year's auction, we began our 4-year plan to improve play opportunities and equipment for the students. Since then, we've invested over $7500 in play yard improvements including a basketball hoop for the middle school area, unicycles, pogo sticks and balancers, hoppy balls, slack lines, a giant chess set, and new playground sand for the sandboxes in Kindergarten and the front field. Parent Cabinet will ask attendees at this year's Auction to help fund "Year 2" of the project which includes new multi-colored climbers in the Big Toy Area, safety improvements and a safety base, and NEW creative play areas with Builder Boards, Living Willow Huts, and Sensory Tables. Even if you're not attending the Gala, EVERYONE can donate to help make these new playground improvements possible. Just CLICK here to DONATE any amount. These improvements only happen if we can get them funded... so let's get that playground equipped to fuel our children's imaginations and productively harness their energies!
About Fun-A-Need: Every year at the end of our auction program, we ask all Gala attendees to open their hearts and their wallets to support a project that benefits the whole school with a straight donation. In years past, we have funded Waldorf teacher training, gardens, and playground enhancements.

LEARNING LIFE'S "HOW TO'S"
EDUCATING THE WHOLE CHILD
At Journey, lessons in music and art are just as important as lessons in math, science and language arts. On Friday evening, our 4th though 8th grade students wowed friends and parents with their musical accomplishments. The Pradhan Studios captured some of the Middle School event below: To learn more about the importance of teaching the heads, hearts, and hands of our students, read "Why Educating the Whole Child Matters."
