GALLERY WALK HIGHLIGHTS
At Gallery Walk, classrooms glistened with an array of impressive work by students in every grade. Parents were delighted to view exquisite evidence of joyful learning as they strolled from room to room on our quiet campus. Even though the children were at home, Journey School overflowed with their creativity and splendor.

COMMUNITY MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
Heartfelt messages from alumna, Millie Tanner, 5th grade teacher, Elliot Calloway, Council President, Mike Corbo, and numerous other guest speakers left many parents teary-eyed as we were reminded of the importance of what our community has created at Journey School and the lasting impact a Journey education has on the lives of our children. We know many of you were not in attendance, so please reach out to someone who was, to learn what you missed. Here are a few highlights:
  • JS Foundation launched "Light Our Journey" Campaign.
  • The Wyland Foundation is partnering with the JS Foundation to sponsor a student garden project in the coming weeks.
  • Enrollment numbers are up but Close the Gap numbers are down. Click here to make a donation to Close the Gap now.
  • Mike Corbo shared his appreciation for the gifts that Journey gave his children and he encouraged the community to honor their Close the Gap commitments to support Journey's important work.
  • The Journey School Board is looking to grow its membership to include additional outside community members. If you know of someone who would be a good candidate, please contact Kris Reynolds.
  • Journey's Independent Study program is now accepting applications for the 2016-2017 school year. Applications are due by 3/23.
  • Erik Katzmaier, our volunteer Master Gardener was honored as Journey's unsung hero. Look for more on Erik in the coming weeks.
  • The Auction Committee thanked its sponsors and encouraged parents to buy your tickets now to the Auction Gala or look for the online bidding link in the coming days.

FOCUS ON LEARNING: ANATOMY
"The human foot is a masterpiece of engineering and a work of art." ~Leonardo da Vinci

During Gallery Walk, Ms. T.S. snapped a few photos of 8th grade Main Lesson work from their recent Anatomy block:

Earlier this week, 8th graders continued their anatomy lessons in a cooperative learning activity. Water bottles were placed body lengths from a rope and students had to find a way to get the bottles back without stepping across the line. It took a few tries to figure it out, but they did!

LIGHT OUR JOURNEY CALL TO ACTION

The Journey School Foundation launched "Light Our Journey" this week and this time we've gone green! The annual fundraising campaign is about Journey families reaching out to their personal networks to ask for tax-deductible donations in support of Journey School. Here's what we need ALL families to do: Visit Pledgestar.com to create your personalized website (or use the one we created for you) and then send the link to your community of friends, family, and business associates. The goal is to reach just 10 people with your message about why you love Journey School. Think about it: If each child secures ten $100 pledges, that would bring us $400,000 closer to our goal of a permanent campus, supporting our innovative programs, and making an even bigger impact on our children's education and the community beyond. Thanks for being part of the village!
