MAKING CURRICULAR CONNECTIONS
As 3rd Grade students study the important work of the farmer, they are reaping what they have sown in their current cooking block. Students made homemade pasta, apple and pumpkin muffins, and also learned different ways to turn wheat into flour using mortars and pestles and various grinders.

Ms. Tanner teaches students to grind wheat.

As students experience these science classes, they not only learn how food changes, but also how we humans are able to adapt our environment in ways that keep us healthy and safe. In typical Waldorf fashion, these important lessons are brought at just the right time in a child's development.

Students learn about World Shelters

3rd Grade students are also learning about dwellings that people have built over the course of time and in different parts of the world. Last week they built Sukkahs which are temporary shelters constructed for use during the week-long Jewish festival of Sukkot. Learn more about the 3rd Grade Curriculum here.
