WELCOME BACK, JOURNEY FAMILIES!

The new school year is off to a great start! New and familiar faces filled campus this week with bright smiles and warm welcomes. We look forward to seeing all of our parents at Back-to-School Night THIS Wednesday, Sept. 16 where Faculty, Parent Cabinet, and the Foundation will share important information about the coming year. As a reminder, Back-to-School Night is an adult-only event.

Here's the schedule:

5:30 PM
Kindergarten and Grades 5-8 Parents: Meet in your child's classroom

6:30 PM

All School Meeting at the lunch tables

7:15 PM
Grades 1-4 Parents: Meet in your child's classroom

Additionally, in order to facilitate the best communication possible, we kindly ask parents to thoroughly read all correspondence from the school including our weekly newsletter and room parent emails. We don't want you to miss important information that will affect your child's success at school.

PARKING LOT PROTOCOL & CARPOOLS

Thank you parents for a job well done following the new parking lot procedures last week, but there's still room for improvement. When dropping off your children, please remember the following:

Safety comes first
Drop-off begins along the red curb and extends to the yellow curb.
Pull as far forward as possible in the right hand lane before dropping off your child.
Drop-off is prohibited from the center lane.
Students must exit the vehicle on the curbside only.
Temporary Kindergarten Parking is allowed in the right lane drop-off area beginning at 8:30.

We appreciate your patience and consideration as we work to improve the safety and efficiency of our parking lot.

AFTER SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES

After School classes start this week! It's not too late to sign up....

Journey's new music teacher, Mrs. Pitts, will be offering a free demo class after school on Thurs. 9/17 for any student interested in singing up for Choir.
Chess has been added to our line-up on Wednesdays for students in Grades 1-8. Get more info at Back to School Night. Our chess provider will offer a free demo class on Wed. 9/23 for interested students with a start date of 9/30.

PARENT UNIVERSITY TO LAUNCH

As our dedicated, enthusiastic teachers bring a creative, hands on experience to your children, so too are we committed to providing you, as your child's first teachers, with as many opportunities as possible to learn about our mission to educate the whole child and your part in it. That's where Journey School Parent University (JSPU) comes in. Mark your calendars for our upcoming Parent University Classes:

9/24 - What's Eurythmy? A Parent Introduction, 7-8:30pm
10/7, 14, 27 - Supporting Our Children Through Puberty Series 7-8:30pm at WSOC. See flyer here.
10/8 - Simplicity in the Home, 1:15-2:45pm for Kindergarten & 1st Grade Parents

Also, our "First Saturday Workshops" at The Oak and the Acorn begin 10/3.

EURYTHMY AT JOURNEY

Eurythmy is a unique and refreshing movement art that the Kindergarten through grade 4 students are learning.

All Journey Parents are invited to join our visiting Eurythmy teacher, Ms. Bohrman, on Thursday, September 24, 7-8:30pm, in our Multipurpose Room for an engaging introductory adult lesson.
