WELCOME NEW JOURNEY TEACHERS
|
 After having assisted three consecutive First Grade classes at Journey School, Yara Brighton is excited to receive her own class for the 2015-2016 school year. In her third year of Waldorf Teacher Training at WSOC, Miss Brighton has been a guest teacher for a variety of subjects including music, form drawing, math, language arts, drawing, and movement, and has a thorough knowledge of the First Grade curriculum in a public Waldorf setting. Miss Brighton says she is "thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to join a stellar group of dedicated faculty and to continue to grow professionally with Journey's amazing school community!"
 Journey is delighted to welcome Kathryn Pitts to our team as our new Grades 4-8 Music Teacher. Mrs. Pitts is a professional singer with extensive choral experience that has taken her to prestigious performance spaces such as Walt Disney Concert Hall, Ren�e and Henry Segerstrom Hall, and Nokia Theater. She made her European debut last summer while attending the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria as a member of the Opera Studio with her husband, pianist Daniel Pitts; and was named a semi-finalist for both the Chicago Oratorio Award and The American Prize in Voice in 2014. Mrs. Pitts received her BA in Music Education and K-12 Music Teaching Credential from Cal State University, Fullerton in 2012. She is currently performing with Pacific Chorale.

CLASS PLAYS: A JOURNEY TRADITION

The annual class play is an important spring tradition at Journey School. It is also a key element of Waldorf-inspired education. Our First Graders were simply adorable in recent performances of "The Golden Goose" and "The Four Brothers." We think you'll agree.... |

2015-16 CALENDAR & BELL SCHEDULE
|
The Journey School calendar for 2015-16 is now available on our website. Please note the 1st day of school is Wednesday, Sept. 9. The new bell schedule for 2015-16 is as follows:
- Kindergarten: M-F: 8:40 AM to 12:40 PM
- Grades: M, Tu, Th, F: 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM; W: 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM

TALENT SHOW IS SATURDAY 6/6
|
All are invited to the annual Journey School Talent Show this Saturday, June 6 at 6pm. Enjoy interpretive dance, original songs, keyboard and vocal solos, Irish dance, and more. Chairs will be provided for this outdoor event, but picnic blankets and warm clothing is suggested. $3/slice pizza and bake sale items will benefit Journey School's field trip fund.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GAMES DAY IS 6/7
|
Please join us at Doheny Beach for our Middle School Games Day this Sunday, 6/7 starting at 10am. All middle school students and their families are invited for a soccer match, volleyball, bocci ball, Frisbee, body/boogie/surfing, or just hanging out. RSVP to Miss Joy. We hope to see you there!

STORE SALE & LAST WORKSHOPS

The Oak and the Acorn will have a "Stock up for Summer Sale" starting Friday, 6/5 through the last day of school on 6/12. Please spread the word that all arts and crafts supplies and books will be 15% off.
