HOW DO WALDORF GRADUATES SUCCEED IN HIGH SCHOOL & BEYOND?

One of the most frequently asked questions on a Waldorf campus is, "Yeah, I can see how the schooling can be very good for the younger students, but how will the students transition into high school and higher education?" Join School Mentor and Waldorf Educator, Tim Connolly, and "special guests" on
Wed 2/4 from 6-7:30pm for our next Parent University offering to find out.... Where do graduates move on for the next level of their educational experience? What kinds of schools do they matriculate to? How does a Waldorf education impact their lives? RSVP here. Donation-based childcare is available for Journey School students on-site with Mr. Storm.
COFFEE TALK: SLOW TECH PARENTING
Join School Mentor, Patti Connolly, for a Coffee Talk entitled: Slow Tech Parenting: How Do We Guide Our Children's Use?  Patti will discuss the challenges parents face as we try to manage the abundance of technological devices in our lives. How can we find the balance we need to guide our children well? What does a healthy family tech use plan based on your child's developmental needs look like? Bring your questions and ideas to the MPR on Tues 2/10 from 9-10:30. RSVP here or just come by! All are welcome!
ATTENDANCE & COURTESY PLANNING
As we gear up for the 4-day Presidents' Weekend on Fri 2/13 to Mon 2/16, we know that many families are beginning to make plans for Spring Break and Summer Vacation. Spring Break begins Mon 4/6 and school resumes Mon 4/13. The first day of school for the 2015-16 school year will likely be Wed 9/9--although this is not a firm date and is subject to change. Look for the complete 2015-16 calendar on our website in the coming days.
MEASLES IN THE OC
In our recent community email, we shared that measles has been confirmed in several OC residents, as part of the Disneyland outbreak of December 2014. Measles is a highly infectious, airborne illness that typically begins with fever, cough, runny nose and red eyes, and within a few days a red rash appears, usually first on the face and then spreading downward to the rest of the body. Because it is so contagious, measles can spread rapidly and cause outbreaks. If you suspect measles or if you have concerns, see your medical practitioner immediately. To date, there have been no reported cases of measles within the Journey School community. Please read yesterday's bulletin for further details and school procedures.

Don't miss our first "Last Saturday" Workshop event this Saturday 1/31 for Metal Jewelry Making (9:30-1:30), Kombucha Making (10-12), Paper Making (11-3), and Needle Felting Mouse class (1-3). Get details here.
CLASS MEETINGS & RE-ENROLLMENT

KICK UP YOUR HEELS FOR JOURNEY
Roaring 20s Dancing Our 15th Annual "Roaring 20s" Auction Gala is coming up on 3/14 at the Mission Viejo Country Club. As our biggest "FUN"d-raiser of the year, it takes fancy footwork by all to make it a success. Here's how you can help:
  • Get donations. Make it a goal to get at least two donations by 2/10. Ask your favorite restaurant to donate a gift card. Find a family member with a ticket connection (sports, theater, concerts, etc). Plan a cool experience with friends and offer it at the auction. Do you have a boat? Know a good cook? Throw in some drinks for a sunset cruise excursion!
  • Find or be a sponsor. Own a business or know someone who does? Sponsor our event! It's a great way to advertise your business while supporting our school community.
  • Buy tickets on sale here.
