Wyland, the renowned artist and conservationist, inspired students Tuesday with personal stories, practical advice, and a special art lesson! He shared what it was like growing up in Detroit and how his devoted mother believed in his dreams. Wyland emphasized the importance of thinking BIG and explained that he creates life-size marine life to change the way people think.

Wyland's 2013 Gift to Journey
The students' conservation and creativity touched Wyland. He also admires how our teachers weave academics, arts, and conservation into lessons without relying on textbooks. A highlight of the day came when Wyland led a beautiful art lesson that blended oceanic scenes with relevant geologic themes. Thank you!

More than 80% volunteer at least 50 hours per year
Approximately 70% donate to the Close the Gap program
Yesterday, at least 75 parent volunteers were fingerprinted and more than 300 people celebrated at our BBQ luncheon
