WEAVING HISTORY & GEOGRAPHY TO TEACH ETHICS
The 8th graders have been enjoying an interdisciplinary block about early America. The students are studying how the varied physical geography of the original thirteen colonies resulted in the formation of diverse economic and cultural regions.

Ms. Townley-Smith reflects, "We've been writing about how these economic and geographic differences contributed to the rise of slavery, and eventually, to the Civil War."

In between football tosses, Max and Joseph shared that they appreciate learning from the mistakes of the past, so they can apply the lessons to their own lives.
At Journey, themes of freedom and revolution are saved for 8th Grade, precisely when such topics resonate.
