IMPORTANT BULLETINS

Auction: Click here for an Auction announcement, buy tickets online, or click here to help fellow parents gear up for this fun fundraising event.

Attendance: Your child's education depends on excellent attendance. Too many children are missing days due to non-emergencies. Please pay special attention to differences in the CUSD and Journey calendars.

Coffee & Conversation: Parents sipped coffee and chatted about middle school strengths and needs last Wednesday. Our next coffee is on Thursday 2/27 at 8:45am in the Development Office on school expansion.

Allergies: Our Board may revise allergy protocols to protect students. President Corbo needs your input so please join us on 2/27 at 6pm.

Teaching Excellence: 2013 teacher evaluations have been completed. Feedback from this process is now informing staffing plans.

Close-the-Gap: Expect a friendly phone call for Close-the-Gap before the Community Meeting. We want to report follow-through on commitments. Please contact Cindy or make donations online

After-Care: Consider signing up for one of our affordable offerings.

STUDENT LEARNING

'Little' Things Are Big
Each day, Bryce (above) and Spencer quietly honor our country by caring for the flag. Along the way, they're learning important lessons of responsibility, dependability, and gratitude.

Handwork

Third grade students are currently washing, spinning, and dyeing wool in the handwork block, "Sheep: From Fleece to Fabric".  In 3rd Grade, students learn arts and academics within the context of practical living. Research shows that working with the hands connects neural networks in ways that pencil and paper activities alone do not, which is why hands-on experiences are emphasized.
PARENT EDUCATION & JOURNEY STORE
The one year anniversary of The Oak and the Acorn is upon us. We're celebrating with a giveaway! The first person to email the correct answer to the question on our "What's New in the Store?" page will win a $15 gift certificate to the store!
ENROLLMENT
The enrollment window for 2014-2015 will soon close. Tours and Lottery Applications must be complete by 2/28. Contact Kris Reynolds.
ATTENTION 8TH GRADE PARENTS!
CUSD is now accepting online School of Choice applications for the 2014-2015 school year. If you are planning to apply to a high school that is not your designated school you must apply now.  Visit the CUSD website, click on "Parents" and then "School of Choice."
