OUR STUDENTS PRESENT AT GREEN SUMMIT
|
The CA Department of Education invited Journey students to discuss reflections on their learning at yesterday's Green California School's Summit and Exposition held at the Pasadena Conference Center. Journey was the only school selected to attend.
The students shared several important thoughts with the crowd, including:
- Our 6 gardens are writing, art, and science labs!
- Spending time in nature makes kids happy, healthy and focused.
- Learning should be fun, alive and experiential.
- 8th grade projects and eco-trips empower students.
- There should be more native gardens to save water and money.
|
- Kindergarten Lantern Walk is Friday, 11/15 at 5pm
- Grades 1-4 Lantern Walk is Wednesday, 11/20 at 6pm
- Students gather with parents and teachers to hear a story about service to others. Next, they stroll campus singing and carrying decorated lanterns created as symbols of each child's individual light. The experience helps children recognize "the light" of one another, and gives them an experience of caring and sharing.
- You can enrich the experience by learning the Lantern Walk songs.
- And, hear them beautifully sung by Sarah Hultquist, on the PC website.

HISTORY ALIVE ON HALLOWEEN!

JOURNEY SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE FIT
|
See how Journey School 5th and 7th Graders compare in State Physical Fitness tests. This is a result of our common efforts, so thank you!
|
ATTENDANCE NEEDS TO IMPROVE
|
- Month 1, 96.40%
- Month 2, 94.81%
- Last Week, 94%; This Week, 95%
- Our goal, 98%
- Absences result in lower achievement, social challenges, higher stress levels, and financial loss.
- Please support our efforts by not planning vacations on school days as the holidays approach. Thank you to all those attending, and arriving on time, each day.
