KNOW THAT OUR STUDENTS CREATE TEXTBOOKS
|
Journey's 8th graders are immersed in a month-long study of human anatomy. The topic is presented at an age when students' curiosity about human development is naturally heightened.

Suha and Shannon have developed a special appreciation for the complexity of the brain, and informed us that, "There are 14 functional areas which control a range of abilities, like: memory, creativity, senses, and concentration."

KNOW ABOUT OUR ACADEMIC REPORT CARD
|
The California Charter School Association (CCSA) publishes academic report cards for all charter schools in the state. Journey's academic report card may be found here. If you are interested in learning more about charter schools, and their impact on students, please visit the CCSA website. We also encourage you to checkout the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education.

KNOW ABOUT THE ASSISTANCE LEAGUE VISIT
|
We are thankful for the generosity of the Assistance League of Capistrano Valley who recently awarded Journey School two grants for our innovative Games/PE ($1500) and Music ($3000) Specialties. We are also grateful for our dedicated Grants Team. Photo courtesy of Pradhan Studios.

KNOW THAT HARVEST FAIRE NEEDS YOU
|
Harvest Faire is just one week away! We encourage you to invite friends, family and other community members to attend this very special Journey School event. Visit the Parent Cabinet website for details and to learn how you can help make Harvest Faire a success. Photo courtesy of Pradhan Studios.
|
This week's attendance is 95.28%. Our year average is 95.8%. The goal is 98%. Students need to be in class to learn and contribute. Also, we lose about $47.00 for every absence which is the cost equivalent of: 1 decent recorder, 1.3 specialty teacher hours, 4 literature books, or 1 week's worth of organic food for Kindergarten.
|
The Oak and the Acorn Store is graciously run for the Journey School Foundation by parent volunteers Johanna Southard, Ruth Scott, and Brad Southard. April Poggi and Shalimar Little have also stepped in to serve as cashiers and help the store with other duties.
- Everyone who works in the store is a volunteer.
- All baked goods are donated by parents.
- 100% of profit from products ordered from outside vendors to be sold in the store goes to the Journey School Foundation.
- Handmade items are taken on consignment and 30% of the sales price goes to the Foundation.
|
Thanks to parents who supported our school by:
- attending Parent Ambassador orientation.
- planning for Harvest Faire with volunteer jobs ranging from prepping booths, buying supplies, attending planning meetings, and the myriad of other responsibilities involved with this massive event.
- field trip drivers and chaperones for their dedication to successful learning outside Journey School.
- Baking Fairies who provided fall-themed baked goods for enrollment tours and the store on Wednesdays.
