Making Public Waldorf Education Possible
Dear Journey School Friends and Family,

We are pleased to share our weekly newsletters with you.  There are now 1100 subscribers and the list grows each week! We encourage you to invite your family and friends to subscribe too so they may also get more involved in our children's lives and school. It really is important that you read each newsletter and e-blast that arrive in your inbox. We use this space and the website to inform you about such things as:
  • Student learning and achievements
  • Educational research and trends
  • Upcoming events and school news
  • Involvement opportunities for prospective parents
We are striving to communicate with you in superb ways so you are fully informed and empowered to get involved. It really does take a village.

Finally, please pay special attention to the parent survey link directly below so we can benefit from your input and advice. Results will also be used to help our Grant Committee quantify where and how much our parents volunteer (a key factor as they apply for grants and secure donations).

Current Involvement Opportunities:

Onwards and Upwards,

SPOTLIGHT ON LEARNING
Fall in Love with Books and Reading

Journey School expects every child to fall in love with books and reading! When children read on a daily basis, it increases their skills in prediction, interpretation, imaginative thinking and ethical decision making. All Journey children need to read independently, or with family members, for a minimum of 30 minutes every day to foster this active-love-of-learning through the written word.

ALL SCHOOL COMMUNITY MEETING
All School Community Meeting

What exactly is the All School Community Meeting?
Think of it as Journey School's Town Hall Meeting - a review of where we've been and where we're going - with special attention on the road map forward (strategic plan).

Why should I go?
You will be informed about important school happenings and given the opportunity to get more directly involved in our school and the current strategic planning process.  You will also:

  • Hear testimonials from Journey Alumni
  • Watch a student performance
  • View a video made for the occasion
  • Receive your child's 2013-14 re-enrollment packet
  • Thank and connect with others

What time does it start?
Everyone should arrive by 5:45, but food will be served at 5:30 PM

Will there be food?
Yes, there will be food and conversation with other parents

How can I help?
Sign up for one of these easy volunteer positions and tack that hour onto your volunteer hours for the year.  Sign-up to help at the meeting.

School Lunches Support Our 8th Grade Class Field Trips
Did you know that 8th grade students run our lunch program? They provide nutritious and affordable meals and have fun serving the younger students, while watching their field trip funds grow from their volunteer work. So why not help them reach their goal? Our 8th graders are challenging our community to 20 new sign-ups this week.  Click here for a printable PDF order form.
