JOURNEY CHARTER LEADS THE WAY
|
Journey School is not only the first charter school in Capistrano Unified School District -- we are also the first parent-initiated charter school in all of Orange County. We want what is best for our children and we act when we see a need arise. We are 12 years ahead of charter schools opening their doors today. Journey School hopes to act as a new model for public education by offering innovative programs in ecoliteracy, digital literacy, social literacy, and specialty classes. Launching a Development Office in times of budgetary uncertainty is another example of looking towards the future and anticipating student needs.
Since our pioneering days both Journey and the charter movement have flourished. According to Jed Wallace, President and CEO of California Charter Schools Association, "Charters have done in their relatively short 20 years, what the traditional public education system has been unable to do in its 150 year history in California . . . ."

There are several CRITICAL issues for Journey and all public charter schools on the ballot. We hope that you will take the time to vote on November 6th. There are many ways for you to be involved. ALL HALLOW'S EVE AT JOURNEY SCHOOL
|

Bringing Light to the Darkness
One of Journey School's core values is to be "celebratory, soul-nourishing, and joyful." One way we practice this important principle is through the seasonal festivals. We believe that a reverence and sense of guardianship for the earth and all her inhabitants are nurtured through these celebrations.
The autumn festivals at Journey School begin with the Festival of Courage celebrated in the Kindergartens. All Hallows' Eve, celebrated in both the Kindergartens and in grades 1-8, is coming soon. The Lantern Walks of both the Kindergartens and grades 1-4 follow right behind on November 14.
