     Happy New Year! It's a great and exciting time to be a part of the Zebulon Community. I am Kathy Smith the 2013 President of the Zebulon Chamber Board of Directors. My husband Tony and I own Spectra Builders, Inc., and we've been a part of the Zebulon Community for 12 years. Our company specializes in commercial interior fitups, renovations, groundup, and design-build projects. We have been Chamber Members for 11 years and I have been on the board for the past three. My involvement with the Chamber has given me many great opportunities to get to know other business owners in the Zebulon area.

We are excited about the new additions this year and the areas of expertise they will bring to our Board. We would also like to thank Lisa McMahon with PETWAY MILLS & PEARSON, PA, Pat McNally with Gay, Jackson, & McNally, and Darryl Blevins with Eastern Regional Center for their service to the Chamber.

     The board of directors has been planning for this coming year for the past several weeks. We have many exciting things in store for our members. If you are not involved with the chamber, 2013 is your year to get connected! One way you can do this is to make plans now to attend the Zebulon Chamber Annual Banquet. This will be held on Friday, February 15th at East Wake Academy. There will be great food, a speaker, a silent auction, and many new people for you to meet, along with awards presented to different businesses and the announcement of the Zebulon Chamber's Citizen of the Year.

     If you are interested in getting involved in the chamber, please contact our office at 919-269-6320. Pick a favorite event and volunteer for that committee. We'd love to have you!

Our Ambassadors meet occassionally to discuss the Chamber's needs. Ambassadors are an integral part of the working of the Chamber and it's many events. If you are interested in becoming part of this very important group, please contact the Chamber at 919-269-6320.   

I am also looking for a volunteer to help out in the office a few days a week. If you know of anyone who would enjoy answering phones, filing and doing somecomputer work, please let me know. Thank you!

We are currently redecorating the Zebulon DMV office. The walls have  been painted a happy yellow selected by interior designer and ZCOC member Linda Miller of Indoff, Inc. Linda worked with local artist Melonie Wood on a color scheme. Melonie will be painting a custom mural on the large wall you see as you enter the office. We have a ways to go but stay tuned...it's going to be amazing!

Teresa Nichols from Safe Haven Cat Shelter & Clinic came to speak with us last month at Fargo Cattle Co.

SAFSAFE Haven is a 501(c)(3) non-profit No Kill animal shelter dedicated to finding homes for homeless cats and kittens. Since opening in 1994 SAFE Haven has adopted out more than 5,300 cats and kittens and spayed or neutered over 12,000! SAFE Haven relies heavily on donations from the community to support its life-saving work and programs.They have 8 full time paid staff members and over 80 volunteers! For more information on donating or volunteering, click HERE.
