Another Way Culture Can Counter Poverty

Hartford Teen Childbirth Rate Declining; Still Twice that of CT

From 6th Grade on, education and counseling efforts in Hartford schools aim to reduce teen pregnancy - and recent downward trends in teen childbirth here follow those of the nation.  But, like other poverty-related obstacles, this issue can affect academic success, not just for new teen parents but, of course, their children as well.  Amidst all the factors that might help, we think school culture is key.
