"The Changing Landscape of Woody Biomass Utilization:  Where Does Renewable Energy Fit?" is the theme for the next Minnesota Renewable Energy Roundtable. Hosted by AURI in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Duluth's Natural Resources Research Institute (NRRI), the event will feature speakers and discussions in the areas of forestry and woody biomass availability, biomass chemicals and advanced biofuels, biomass heating opportunities, and more.

Midwest Ag honored for developing international markets

Midwest Ag Enterprises, one of AURI's 2013 Ag Innovators of the Year, was selected as a recipient of the 2013 Minnesota Governor's International Trade Awards. Midwest Ag Enterprises, which sells animal feed, was honored for developing and continuing to grow a significant part of its business in foreign markets, for increasing or maintaining jobs in Minnesota to support international sales and for developing novel approaches for competing globally.

Minnesota Cup competition offers $300,000 in prize money 

AURI is teaming up with Minnesota Cup to encourage innovators to submit their great business ideas to compete for more than $300,000 in prize money.  The competition is free to enter and encourages entries from a wide range of businesses, entrepreneurs and inventors in seven divisions:

  • Energy/Clean Tech
  • Food/Agriculture/Beverage
  • General
  • High Tech
  • Life Science/Health IT
  • Social Entrepreneurs
  • Student Entrepreneurs
