The fall 2013 issue of Ag Innovation News features stories on new uses for flax and miscanthus, a teenager selling banana bread to raise money for an orphanage, and much more.

Several valuable materials can be made from Dried Distillers Grains with Solubles (DDGS) using a selective extraction process, which may provide another revenue stream for dry-grind ethanol plants.

During this research, the following materials were produced from DDGS: corn oil, biodiesel by esterification of extracted corn oil, simple sugars suitable as feed ingredients and more.

Attendees at the October Minnesota Renewable Energy Roundtable heard from and discussed workforce and educatoin opportunities and challenges in the renewable energy sector. Powerpoints and other information from the event will be available on AURI's website in the coming days.
