 Convention Venue Changed
Dear Attendees to Diocesan Convention and 150th Anniversary Celebration:
As noted in our general invitation last week, the elevator at Trinity Cathedral will be out of order on Friday and Saturday, November 13th and 14th. We had hoped to be able to provide alternative arrangements to guarantee the comfort, safety and dignity of all who wished to attend. However, this has proven impossible. Therefore, we will hold both the Friday night Anniversary Celebration and the Convention itself at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Mt. Lebanon.
We regret the short notice of this change in locale, and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience. We are grateful for the hospitality offered by the good folks at St. Paul's. We look forward to a wonderful party (all welcome!) in honor of our 150th on Friday night, and a blessed, efficient and fulfilling Convention on Saturday.
More information will be available on the diocesan website in the coming days at www.episcopalpgh.org.
Please share this information with anyone else you know who may be planning to attend this year's Convention in any capacity, and feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns at rector@christchurchnorthhills.org.
In Christ,
The Rev. Canon Jim Shoucair
Secretary to Convention

Join Bishops, Guests to Witness Installation of Next Presiding Bishop!
Live webcast online spreads historic event across the church
The installation of Bishop Michael Bruce Curry as the next presiding bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church takes place beginning at noon on Sunday. The service will be webcast live from Washington National Cathedral. Read more here. Timing makes this ideal for watching in groups either in parishes after morning worship or at home. This is a great opportunity to celebrate and educate! (Also the day we turn back our clocks an hour.) Even the worship bulletin is now available online here. A video of the Eucharist will be available on demand after the event. On Saturday at 11 a.m., the Union of Black Episcopalians will host a Vigil Celebration and Eucharist at the Armory in Washington, D.C. Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefforts Schori will preside and Bishop Curry will celebrate. More here. If you're following either event on Twitter, the hashtag is #MichaelCurry. For details on these events, click here.

Pittsburgh Youth Initiative
Due to the change in venue for Diocesan Convention, the outreach work planned by youth of the diocese outside of the Cathedral has been cancelled.
We would still be happy to collect leftover Halloween candy and treats to distribute to people in need.
An alternate outreach event will be scheduled in the near future. Please continue to check Grace Happens, the diocesan webpage, and Pittsburgh Youth Initiative's Facebook page for upcoming events.
Thank you,
Brent

Stephanie Brown of St. Paul's, Mt. Lebanon, recently completed a brief video titled "Unfinished Grace," highlighting the true meaning and impact of participating in mission work.
"I chose to address the lack of familiarity with mission work," said Stephanie, who produced this video as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award. Great job, Stephanie!

Episcopal Workday at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank
Join fellow Episcopalians from across the diocese at our next volunteer workday at the Repack Center of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, sponsored by the Social Justice and Outreach Committee. We'll be working in the Repack Center at GPCFB's main Duquesne warehouse facility (1 North Linden St, Duquesne, PA 15110) from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, November 14. We had to schedule this date a year ahead because of the popularity of this volunteer activity.
GPCFB serves as a central repository for over 350 local food pantries and distribution centers across 11 counties in southwestern Pennsylvania. Because it works with such large volumes in its certified green facility, GPCFB's operations are efficient, economical and impressive.
We'll assist the GPCFB repack team by inspecting, sorting, and repacking groceries. The exact project will depend on their inventory at the time. In the past we've had most rewarding times repacking food ranging from cereals to oranges. The Food Bank is always well organized and makes excellent use of our volunteer time.
If you are looking for a rewarding activity in the Thanksgiving spirit, contact Jerry Stephenson at JJmestephenson@verizon.net or 412 367-1032 by November 9 to reserve your slot. We'll need your name, email/phone and church for the roster sheet. Volunteers must be 12 years of age or older and be able to stand for two or more consecutive hours. We are limited to 30 volunteers. Volunteer spaces will be reserved on a first-come first-served basis.
