Youth Service Opportunity at Shepherd's Heart Fellowship, Downtown

The Pittsburgh Youth Initiative and youth from the diocese will participate in Shepherd's Heart mission work and worship service on December 14 at 4:30 pm.

The theme will be Christmas Dinner and we are hoping to have individual parishes supply part of the meal.  PYI will provide the ham, but we will also need a starch, bread, veggies, fruit, and dessert.

Christ Church North Hills has started a warm clothing drive for the event and PYI is collecting leftover Halloween candy and other sweets to donate.

The event provides an awesome opportunity for youth to serve others and appreciate their own blessings.

Please contact Brent Hansen for more information, to make a donation, or to register to help at bhansen@episcopalpgh.org or 412-491-9738

Parting Shots

Members of The Church of the Advent's congregation gave a warm welcome to trick or treaters of all ages during the City of Jeannette's Trick or Treat Night on Thursday,October 30.  Hot chocolate, cider, cookies and the usual goodies were offered in the parish hall.  It is believed that all who passed by the church that evening stopped in to enjoy the refreshments, whether for a brief respite from the evening's activities or for a longer visit.

Many of the parents welcomed the opportunity to take a break from walking the streets to sit and chat while enjoying a warm beverage.  The parishioners welcomed the opportunity to meet and greet neighbors and to let them know that the parish is an interested and concerned neighbor.  This was the first in what The Church of the Advent hopes to be an annual tradition.
