Pittsburgh Pastoral Institute Marks 50 Years Of Mental Health Service With Gala
The Pittsburgh Pastoral Institute (PPI), located on Marchand Street in Shadyside, is celebrating 50 years of serving the mental health and spiritual needs of the greater Pittsburgh community with a gala to be held on September 13, 2014, at the new East End Cooperative Ministry Community House, East Liberty. Featured speakers are US Representative Dr. Timothy Murphy and Philip Hallen, well known in the Pittsburgh nonprofit community and one of the founders of the Institute. Rep. Murphy will speak to the mental health issues facing our country today while Mr. Hallen will recount the founding of PPI.
Emphasizing a holistic perspective that seeks to integrate psychological, spiritual, and physical health, and prompted by the faith-based initiatives of the John F. Kennedy administration, PPI was founded in 1964 by the Rev. Dr. Donald Hargrave Gross, the Rev. Dr. Everett I. Campbell, and Dr. Richard L. Russell, a psychiatrist. This makes PPI the oldest interfaith counseling and psychotherapy center in western Pennsylvania.
All are invited to celebrate on Saturday, September 13th at 6:30PM for a cocktail reception at the East End Cooperative Ministry Community House, 6140 Station Street, East Liberty. Tickets are priced at $125.00 and may be purchased online at www.ppi-online.org or by phone at 412-661-1239. Please RSVP by August 29, 2014.
