Bishop McConnell is currently on a trip with several stops throughout Uganda and is taking time out of his hectic schedule to report back regularly via his new blog, Iron City Bishop,
A tab titled "Bishop's Blog" is available near the top of the diocesan web site to access the bishop's reports.
In both words and pictures, +Dorsey's trip is highlighting the great work of Pilgrim Africa and the challenges faced daily by the people of central Africa.

UNITED THANK OFFERING BLUE BOXES AND BLUE ENVELOPES "Little drops of water, little grains of sand make the mighty ocean and the pleasant land"... children's nursery rhyme. Using Blue Boxes in homes throughout the year is an old tradition of offering thanks for daily blessings. Every penny collected in the parishes of our diocese, combined with those from other dioceses, goes toward changing lives here in Pittsburgh and around the world. Because of its missionary nature, all UTO collections are awarded in grants to help others in need. None is used for administrative purposes.
The UTO collection date is up to the individual parish. Blue envelopes are available for those collection Sundays. The combined collection is then usually presented in an envelope with the parish name on it. Representatives from each parish are welcome to take part in the procession at the UTO InGathering. Those from parishes that have taken their UTO collection by that date, carry their envelopes to be combined with others in the diocese. Those whose UTO collections are collected later usually process with envelopes that contain a note of when they believe they'll send their collection to the diocesan UTO coordinator. As already stated, ALL parishes are welcome to take part. If you would like free Blue Boxes and/or Blue UTO collection envelopes mailed to yourself and/or your parish, you can order them directly at http://episcopalmarketplace.org/Products/United-Thank-Offering If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by phone or email. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, and God bless you. Betsy Hetzler United Thank Offering Coordinator, Diocese of Pittsburgh hetzlerb@verizon.net |

Off the Floor Pittsburgh is a local Christian nonprofit ministry which recycles gently-used furniture and delivers it free of charge to poor families with extensive furniture needs. The families that have been helped were without furniture due to fire and flood, mold and bug infestations, domestic abuse, drug and alcohol addictions, disease, divorce, incarceration, and simply long-term poverty. OFP rents warehouse space at the Pittsburgh Presbytery, owns a truck for furniture pickup and delivery, has two staff persons and about 130 active volunteers.
To date, OFP has delivered furniture to over 800 families, including over 1,500 children in Allegheny County. More than 20 local social service agencies are currently partnering with OFP to identify them from among their clients. In 2012, furniture deliveries were made to 169 individuals and families, the most families helped in a single year and a 50% increase over 2011.
Currently there are eight local churches that make annual financial contributions to OFP and field a team of furniture movers. Two parishes of the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh (St. Andrews in Highland Park and Calvary Church) have been full partners with OFP for a number of years. Each parish fields a team of volunteers that picks up and delivers furniture on Saturdays according to a rotating schedule.
