Walking Wednesdays!
Woo-hoo Oak Grove!! On a cold and blustery Halloween, we had 220 walkers and bikers and each one received a cool Halloween pencil! We are so proud of our kids and parents/guardians who get out and walk/bike to school. Also, a big THANKS goes out to all of the volunteer parents who arrive at school by 7:15am on Walking Wednesdays to hand out incentives! We couldn't do it without you!
Our next Walking Wednesday will be to Georgia Walk to School Day next semester. We will keep you apprised of what activity we have planned for that day. Also, the Safe Routes to School Committee is working with various sponsors with the hope of being awarded a small grant for school use. We will keep you posted. As always, remember to be safe and be seen!

Updates & Reminders from Dr. Neely
- Flyers from DSCD about standardized testing for 4th graders came home on Friday. If you did not get a flyer, we have extras in the office. Standardized testing is offered for any fourth grader who wants to apply for a school of choice with test score requirements. Students who did not meet the score requirements from the 3rd grade ITBS (or who did not take the ITBS) will want to take advantage of this opportunity.
- There are about 8 weeks left in the first semester. Please take a look at the ways we will honor our third through fifth grade students for their accomplishments in the first semester. Dates and awards are listed here.

Lakeside Community Open House
Sunday, November 4, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
The Lakeside High School PTSA and the The Lakeside Foundation invite you to a Community Open House on Sunday, November 4th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Last spring guests were able to get a glimpse at the nearly completed $24 million renovation and expansion of LHS. Now guests will get a full look at the completed product!
Volunteers will give guided tours of the entire facility from the new Fine Arts Building with its 600-seat auditorium, band, orchestra, chorus and art classrooms to the 25-classroom addition; from the renovated Media Center to the Cafeteria with its outdoor patio and the newly completed Track and Fields! Guests will also have a chance to talk with Mr. Reed and students. They will also enjoy lively entertainment throughout the afternoon provided by students involved in Lakeside's wonderful Performing Arts Programs. PTSA and Foundation members will be on hand to sell commemorative bricks and to share information about future projects that need funding in order to meet the needs of our students and faculty.
So don't miss this great community event. Encourage your neighbors and friends to come see all that is happening inside their "new" neighborhood school! |
