O'Hare Airfield Tour at Airports Going Green

CHICAGO, October 29, 2012 - Get a close-up view of the Chicago Department of Aviation's (CDA) latest sustainability initiatives with a tour of O'Hare International Airport during the 5th Annual Airports Going Green conference in Chicago, November 4 through November 7, 2012.

O'Hare International Airport - South Airfield 

The tour will take place on Wednesday, November 7. Airports Going Green attendees will have the opportunity to visit the FedEx Express Cargo Facility, featuring the largest contiguous green roof at any airport in the U.S. The tour will also include a visit to the first on-airport apiary in the U.S. The tour will showcase sustainability initiatives associated with ongoing construction activity for the O'Hare Modernization Program, which includes runway and taxiway construction, cargo relocations, stormwater detention facilities and rail relocation.     

 

The tour will conclude with a stop at O'Hare's aeroponic urban garden where attendees will be treated to a reception provided by HMS Host.

Buses will leave from the Westin Chicago River North conference hotel at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7. The tour will last about two hours and conclude at 1 p.m., following the reception in the  aeroponic garden. Attendees can then opt to catch a flight home or return to the Westin Chicago River North to continue their visit to our exciting City.
