General Assembly, Day 2

Lake Huron Friends,

This is the report of Sunday June 15, 2014 at General Assembly.

The day started somewhat slowly as the commissioners and staff were free to go to one of a number of local congregations for worship. These congregations were ready and eager to have them come. I heard many reports of good worship experiences.

One of the exciting events of the afternoon was the recognition of our Young Adult Volunteers, including our T J Piccolo from the First Presbyterian Church in Alma. TJ is serving a second year in the YAV program. T J you make us proud! In the same service we commissioned new missionaries including Michael and Rachel Ludwig who spoke to us at the June Presbytery meeting and who will be supported by several of our congregations as they go to Niger. Has your Session considered supporting the Ludwig's?  If so please let the presbytery know, we want to share the encouraging news.

The commissioners heard many presentations this afternoon but had little cause to discuss or vote. Many of these presentations were reports from committees and task forces which have been working at the direction of the last General Assembly.

This evening the General Assembly Committees will meet first for some team building time and then will begin to consider the items which have been referred to them. After worship tomorrow the rest of the day will be spent in committee meetings.  Please continue to pray for our commissioners and all the many many who attend and serve the Assembly.

In Christ,

Jim Browne, Interim General Presbyter and

Ted McCulloch, Stated Clerk
