"I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree..." ** ---- particularly here in West Texas!
The Children's Home has been especially blessed by the vision of Vera White, wife of Founding Superintendent John White, who firmly believed that children needed a beautiful environment in which to thrive. Thanks to Vera's foresight, the Home's campus is an oasis in the desert, where evergreens, pecan trees, oak trees, and other shade trees grow and provide cool places to play in the summer, breathtaking artistry in the frosts of winter, and a rest for the eye from Lubbock's limitless horizons.
Recently, because of the generosity of one of our friends, we were able to add 27 well-established evergreen trees to the west side of our campus. Because the trees are as mature as they are, they must be professionally moved and planted, but once they establish themselves in this new Home, they will make a wonderful wind break and make a beautiful definition to the boundary of the campus proper.
Will you help us grow our trees? Your gift of $150 will cover the cost of planting one tree. Or you could pitch in to cover the cost of installing a drip line to properly water the trees. The total cost of the drip line will be $2,500.00.
Then --- come see our trees. It would be our honor to host you for a tour of this beautiful place that our children call Home.
