Greetings!
Finally, after six months of discussion and hard work, we decided on a new name and logo for the class. We will now be known as ClassE. The color blue was chosen because it did not use any of the participating high school colors and it is associated with freedom, strength, new beginnings optimism and better opportunities.
A special thanks to Rural King for being a class host for the past three weeks and allowing us access to your management staff. We learned so much. We will now be meeting for the next three weeks at the Lifespan Center,11021 E County Road 800 North

Mission, Vision, Values and Regional Market Research

Erica Stollard taught us about Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital's patient demographics as well as the importance of customer feedback and how patient and consumer surveys can benefit a business. Erica also stated that the mission is the goal of the business, vision is where you want to go, and values are the beliefs of the organization.

Developing Business Start-up Money Policies & Logo Discussion

Joyce Madigan and Don Davis came by and helped us set up our policies on start-up expenses, we discussed what the seed money could be used for, how much money the students would start out with and how we will be keeping track of how much they use.

Mars Petcare Tour
with Jim Palkovic
Jim Palkovic guided us through a tour of Mars Petcare in Mattoon, Illinois, where we got to see this high tech facility in action. Jim also taught us about the Five Principles of Mars; quality, responsibility, mutuality, efficiency, and freedom. All of these principles are important in guiding and improving the Mars Company.

Sean Wiggan came into the Business Solutions Center to share some of his experiences as an EIU student and entrepreneur. He explained the significance of getting the correct city and business licenses along with the importance of getting involved in internships and finding networking opportunities.
