Summary of Learning
There was definitely a holiday feel in class this week. We completed personal goal setting and reviewed the importance of the entire PX2 training. We enjoyed the theater and the life of George Bailey and discussed the business ethics that were dramatized in the movie. The students were treated to a surprise breakfast from Dee Braden and the Lifespan Center. Last but not least, the early arriving students were allowed special pool privileges while waiting for their fellow students to arrive.

Salvation Army Tour
with Jeff Eddy
The Salvation Army is a wonderful example of how a nonprofit can diversify their services to generate revenue without straying from their mission to help citizens in need.
They are the second largest church in the world and locally they offer a thrift shop, a food pantry, life skills counseling and money for temporary lodging.
We discussed the Disney Institute training for making the customer feel welcome and the donor feel appreciated.Jeff advised the students to over project expenses and under project revenues in their budgets. He also warned that you will never make everyone happy in a nonprofit and sometimes this is an indicator that you are doing the right work. Change is unsettling.
