DanceLife StudioTour
With Antoine Thomas
Antoine Thomas gave us the grand tour of the DanceLife Studio and discussed how he slowly made changes to the studio after he bought it from Jackie Bennet to ensure a smooth transition for the dancers. When asked how the economy has affected his business, he stated that in a bad economy, parents are still going to find ways to spend money on their children. He discussed his new Dragonflies Program for children with special needs and discussed expanding his health and wellness program. He stated that slow and steady is better than fast and brittle and to plan by starting with the end in mind. Thanks for a wonderful morning!

Eastern Illinois University Renewable Energy Center Tour
With President Bill Perry and Ryan Siegel

President Perry took time out of his busy schedule to welcome the CCEC class to EIU's Renewable Energy Center. He discussed his plans for the CENCERE building just north of the Center that will house a biomass idea generator and it will be opening in the Spring of 2014.

Ryan Siegel gave the tour of the center and told the students that EIU has reduced it's energy consumption by  one-third and has reduced it's water consumption by 50 percent. This building received the LEED Platinum Award by the US Green Building Council. The students were very impressed.

Eclipse Beauty Salon Tour
With Libby Trelz

Libby Trelz, owner of Eclipse Beauty Salon, discussed the nuts and bolts of managing a business. We appreciated her candor when discussing her sole proprietorship and how she prices her products and services so her employees can be paid fairly. She also pointed out that their pre-booking procedure has helped them make it in the tough times. Libby knows her target market and adds special touches to make the experience at the salon a pleasant one.

Book Club Reviews
With CCEC Students Max Smith and Jacob Miller

Max Smith reviewed the book, "Now Discover Your Strengths" which discussed how to identify your strengths and build upon them to achieve the most growth. I was impressed that Max read the book three times to make sure he could share its message to his fellow classmates. Jacob Miller reviewed the book, "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey. This discussion hinted at some of the concepts that the class will be learning with the PX2 training next week.
