Reminders for Secondary Programs
high five For OrPATS classrooms using the Links Curriculum, we have a few reminders for you as you wrap up the school year or begin to plan for Summer and Fall services.
  • Refer to the Lesson and Routine IEP Goals & Objectives document (found under the "Lessons and Guides" tab). These provide suggested Long Term Goals and Short Term Objectives for all lesson plans and standard routines, that you can use in your planning for upcoming IEPs.
  • Use the Custom Routine option to either copy an existing standard routine or create a new routine. This can be a useful tool when making multiple changes to an existing routine (e.g., change the routine name, order of steps, or text for cues and expected behaviors), or creating a new routine that reflects a specific gen ed routine.
  • Additional Visuals for teaching routines have been added to the on-line system. Click on the "Visuals" tab to access the Routine Booklets and VizZleGrams.
  • New in Fall 2014- the Links Lesson Assessment! This new assessment will be presented at the 1-day Workshop, and made available to Links users, beginning this Fall.
For questions and support on the Links Curriculum, please contact Misten Daniels at [email protected]

Peers Helping Peers at
St. Helens High School
The OrPATS training site at St. Helens HS was recently featured in the Spring 2014 issue of Spectrums Magazine for some of their outstanding work with students with ASD.

The SHINE (Students Helping Inspire Non-Judgmental Equality) Club provides a program where teens are social guides and mentors for students with disabilities. Peers accompany the students with disabilities in a variety of routines, both at school and in the community (e.g., playing games, shopping, eating out, various jobs). SHINE peers are active in the club as volunteers, teacher assistants, by taking Exceptional Child classes, or through a senior project relating to the classroom. To read more about the SHINE Club click here.

Congratulations, St. Helens HS, for being recognized for your great work!
