Did you know that the Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce has been building community leadership capacity since the Leadership Dalton-Whitfield (LDW) program began in 1986? As of today, we have 1,046 alumni and that number will increase when the LDW 2016 class graduates in May.
The program schedule for the LDW program class of 2017 is now confirmed and employers are beginning to send in their applications to be selected for the next class. Each year, participants gain knowledge of our community through sessions that concentrate on local quality of life, education, economics, local government, the judicial system, state government, medical services, volunteerism and leadership in general.
If you wish to apply or if you wish to nominate someone for the next class of Leadership Dalton-Whitfield, all program information is listed on the Chamber's website at
www.daltonchamber.org and click on the leadership development page.
In the fall, the Chamber will be accepting applications for the Emerging Leaders Institute, which is a leadership skills development program. This program also builds leadership capacity in our community by training the participants in leadership skills such as understanding community leadership, effective communication, group problem solving and decision making, group dynamics, managing conflict, conducting successful meetings, valuing community diversity and building communities through partnerships and collaboration.
