Whitfield's Small Cities Have Already Started Work on SPLOST Projects

Whitfield County recently presented the county's three smaller cities with the funds they were promised under the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) approved by voters in March.
The four-year, 1 percent SPLOST is expected to collect $63.6 million. Cohutta has received $485,000, Tunnel Hill $700,000 and Varnell $315,000.
Of the money Tunnel Hill received, $600,000 will be used to renovate the depot, which city officials hope to turn into a community center.

AstroTurf Returns to Houston, Texas thanks to Dalton Company
The NFL's Houston Texans have decided to switch from a grass field to artificial one at NRG Stadium and needed some help from Georgia.

"It is with great pride that we are back in Houston to solve a problem much like the one that led to the origination of the category itself," said Bryan Peeples, president of AstroTurf, in a statement. 

"We are probably the only company in the world that could come to Houston and turn this field around in five days thanks to our major technological advancements."
