Dalton-Whitfield Archway Partnership
Melissa Lu was recently honored for her work with the Dalton-Whitfield Archway Partnership.
The Dalton-Whitfield Archway Partnership is a community and economic development program administered and supported by the University of Georgia.
Archway was launched in our community on Aug. 31, 2009 and Melissa was hired Nov. 16, 2009.
"There have been numerous accomplishments that have been made as a result of being an Archway community and we have been the recipient of valuable higher education resources as well.
Through her efforts, she has sparked many people to get involved in projects and volunteer for new projects that have already resulted in accomplishments that we are all proud of.
Melissa Lu has worked tirelessly for Archway and
this community and the accomplishments and resources are a result of her efforts and energy.
Everything she did for Archway, she did with passion and vision for moving our community forward.
We want to recognize her today with a small token of our appreciation and to let her know that she is already missed. We wish her well and we know that she will always be a part of Archway especially when we see the accomplishments that have been made," said Lynn Laughter, Chairman of the Archway Executive Committee.

Volunteers Raise Your Hand!
Got Books?? Readers to Leaders is in need of books for their summer reading program, 'Power Lunch'. If you have any books, new or used, we would be glad to take them off of your hands! Brian Says...A Penny Can Save a Life!
Did you know that Whitfield County is one of seven counties in Georgia that does not have a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST)
The Chamber has recently taken a position to support the 2015 SPLOST issue on the March 17 Election Ballot. This SPLOST includes many areas of our community such as public safety and communication, quality of life, and roads, streets & bridges. One project in particular is our need for a Digital Emergency Response Communication System. Did you know our system uses outdated technology from the 1970's?
To hear more about the SPLOST Special Election join us at our Share the Vision breakfast on SPLOST sponsored by the Leadership Dalton-Whitfield Alumni Association.
The breakfast will be held on Tuesday, March 3rd from 8:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m. at the Dalton Golf & Country Club. Buffet Lines will open at 7:30. Tickets are available here for $15.00 each.
Please join us for this important Breakfast!
