Affiliate Spotlight: Wild Space Dance Company
Acts of Wilderness
September 19-21
Take an adventure with Wild Space in Menomonee Valley's Three Bridges Park, where rolling hills and winding paths become a dramatic backdrop for dance. An urban wilderness, the 24-acre park joins Layton Boulevard West and Clarke Square neighborhoods with the Menomonee Valley. Inspired by these communities, Wild Space will lead audiences through scenes of beauty and intrigue, revealing Milwaukee's newest treasure. Designed for this newly-created landscape, performers will reveal the mysteries and contours of the urban wilderness. As dusk moves into night, the magical lighting of Jan Kellogg will enhance views from paths, walkways and bridges. Dancers will move in and through amphitheaters of the river, ponds and mound formations, lit by ground spotlights and accentuated by spillover lighting from adjacent industries, the Milwaukee skyline and local train yards. Composer and percussionist Tim Russell brings his improvisational expertise into play, performing live in collaboration with migrating birds and industrial machinery. Acts of Wilderness performances are at 7:30 p.m., September 19 - 21, at Three Bridges Park and are entirely outdoors. September 22 will be the rain date, if needed.
