Set in present day Paris, Art begins as Serge buys an extremely expensive painting - which is rather minimalist in style. He never suspects how much the purchase will strain his friendship with Marc and Yvan - testing their relationship to the max.
Director Tyler Marchant has loved the play Art since he first became familiar with it.
In fact, it was on his "bucket list" of plays which he desperately wanted to direct. Learn why here.
ViewPoints: Art
Wednesday, August 14 - 6:30 p.m.
Gale Childs-Daly, theatre director, professor and coach, as well as Milwaukee Art Museum docent, will explore how a viewer may approach and appreciate a work of abstract art. How can we find meaning and resonance in a single splash of color? How do we define the value of a work? Join us as we explore the inspirations behind the conflict in and unifying design of Art. The ViewPoints presentation is FREE and open to the public and will take place in the Skylight Bar & Bistro, which will be open for dinner and refreshments beginning at 5:30 p.m. on August 14. Reservations welcomed 414-291-3773 or skylight@getindulge.com.
Make Art Before Art Join Milwaukee Chamber Theatre for a three-part art experience! Start your evening by creating a painting at Splash Studio, then head to the theater for a light dinner before watching the 8:00 p.m. performance of Art. Friday, August 16, or Friday, August 23.

Affiliate Spotlight: Boulevard Theatre Tigers Be Still
through August 18
Tigers Be Still is a comedy that follows the misadventures of Sherry, a young woman with a master's degree in art therapy, only to find herself moving back home with her family, sending out countless résumés and waiting for the job offer that never comes. Unemployed and overwhelmed, she retreats to her childhood bed and remains there until an unexpected employment opportunity gives her a renewed sense of purpose and hope. Now, if only her mother (unseen) would come downstairs, her boozing sister would get off the couch, her very first therapy patient would do just one of his take-home assignments, her new boss -- and former Principal -- would leave his gun at home, and someone would catch the tiger that escaped from the local zoo, everything would be just perfect.
