United Performing Arts Fund News
The 2013 UPAF Campaign rolls into May with more than $7.5 million raised from generous individuals, corporations and foundations throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. We have many successes to celebrate, such as securing 37 new Workplace Giving Campaigns - UPAF's sweet spot. This month alone, 46 campaigns will kick off in workplaces across the region.
UPAF is incredibly grateful for the support that we've received to date, yet we still need to raise more than $3 million by June 2. We set an aggressive yet achievable $11 million goal to ensure that we sustain a thriving, diverse and engaging performing arts scene. Across the country performing arts organizations are closing or at risk of closing, while here in Southeastern Wisconsin, our performing arts scene is vibrant. This is due largely to the United Performing Arts Fund. And it's due to YOU. Because of your generous support, stages are lit, businesses reap the benefits of a flourishing arts scene, and children have access to arts education that can lead to greater success in life.
If you have not made your donation, I urge you to do so. And remember that to be eligible for all of our amazing prizes, such as a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a trip for four to Disney World and a 55" Sony Smart TV, you need to make your gift by Friday, May 17. Go to www.UPAF.org to donate and to see all the prizes provided by Johnson Controls, Harley-Davidson and Bartolotta Restaurants.
Our special events team is in high gear planning our signature event - UPAF Ride for the Arts, sponsored by Miller Lite. While the team deadline has passed, we encourage you, friends, family members, co-workers, etc., to individually register at www.UPAFRide.org or in person in the Grand Avenue from May 28 through June 1 (see article below for details). The Ride is set for Sunday, June 2, departing from the South Gate of the Summerfest Grounds. If you'd prefer to volunteer, there are still many opportunities available. We particularly need sentries to direct the flow of bike traffic along the route of the Ride.
Please note that the 2013 UPAF Campaign Finale will be held this year at the Ride Finish Line Party on June 2 and will begin at noon at the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard Stage. Please join us to celebrate all we have accomplished together this year.
Thank you for your continued support,
Deanna L. Tillisch

Member Spotlight: Milwaukee Ballet
Swan Lake
There's a reason Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" is the most popular ballet of all time. It is one of ballet's most powerful stories of love and deception. Michael Pink's dramatic production promises to showcase the Company's strong classical dancers, while the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra performs this timeless classic with passion and grace.

Affiliate Spotlight: Windfall Theatre A Little Night Music
Stephen Sondheim's legendary "A Little Night Music" is the gorgeous 3/4 time witty, waltzing musical masterpiece based on Ingmar Bergman's classic film, "Smiles of a Summer Night." It is a breathtakingly haunting tale of past loves, missed opportunities, worlds changing and time wasted. It touches the heart of our too-hurried society today with its illusion of communicating yet rarely connecting and the regrets left in the wake of all those fading facades. Directed by Carol Zippel.

Sponsor Spotlight: Johnson Controls, Inc. / Loaned Executive Sponsors

Our sincere gratitude goes out to Johnson Controls for their incredible help sponsoring our incentive offers for the 2013 Campaign. Their generosity made it possible to offer a large-screen TV, various trips, concert/event tickets and electronics. These incentives were a huge asset to our campaign and certainly led to greater success than we could have achieved without them. Again, our thanks go to you, Johnson Controls, a long-time friend of the performing arts in the Greater Milwaukee area.
To be eligible for these great incentives, you need to make your gift by Friday, May 17.
We also send our thanks to all our corporate donors who sponsored loaned executives or "LE"'s, who help implement our numerous UPAF Workplace Giving Campaigns. These sponsors are:
- We Energies
- Northwestern Mutual
- Rockwell Automation
- Johnson Controls, Inc.
- Children's Hospital of Wisconsin
- Robert W. Baird & Co.
- BMO Harris Bank
