The momentum at UPAF is accelerating at a fast pace with planning for the 2013 Campaign fillDeanna Tillisched with innovative ideas to grow UPAF's donor base. All roads lead to the Kickoff, which is set for Tuesday, March 12 at the Pabst Theatre. Be on the lookout for your e-invite.

The business community plays a big role in the overall success of UPAF - year in and year out. One way that companies can demonstrate their support is through corporate sponsorships. We are pleased to announce three recently-secured commitments for 2013:

  • Miller Coors - UPAF Ride for the Arts for the 23rd year in a row
  • We Energies - Next Generation UPAF for the second consecutive year
  • BMO Harris - UPAF Notable Women for the second consecutive year

Also key to the UPAF Campaign is having a team of Loaned Executives (LE) who - with great passion and energy - partner with workplace giving coordinators on their internal campaigns.   Workplace giving brings in more than 30% of all dollars raised. It is the one activity that our Member Groups cannot do on their own.

This year, we have eight talented LEs sponsored by a variety of generous organizations:

  • Rebecca Beres, We Energies
  • Therese Burkhart, Northwestern Mutual
  • Annie Hernandez, Rockwell Automation
  • Bob Moore, Johnson Controls
  • Chuck Rozewicz, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin
  • Jennifer Sullivan, Robert W. Baird & Co.
  • Donna Swartz, BMO Harris
  • Joanne Williams, UPAF

Lastly, we congratulate UPAF Co-Chair, Gail Lione, for being named a recipient of TEMPO's Mentor Award, which is presented each year to women who have demonstrated support in the personal achievements of others. We look forward to celebrating this honor with Gail at this month's TEMPO luncheon.

With the pieces all falling in place, the momentum UPAF has experienced the last month will only intensify through the Campaign.

Affiliate Spotlight: Theatre Gigante
Dust

Theatre Gigante, in the middle of its 25th anniversary season, is thrilled to present one of Hungary's most prominent literary figures, Gyorgy Spiro, and his play DUST to Milwaukee audiences. This is the first time DUST is being produced in the Midwest - and most of the United States. Directed by Mark Anderson and performed by Isabelle Kralj and John Kishline, DUST is a dark comedy about a couple struggling to stay afloat, who - one lucky day - are given an opportunity to alter their fate forever.

Particularly pertinent to the plight of many today living in poverty, DUST deals with the struggles of families trying to survive in a world that is more and more dependent and controlled by the darker forces of money and power. Set in post-communist Hungary around 2005, the couple travels through 75 minutes of whirlwind reasoning and discussion as they face an opportunity that very rarely comes around to anyone.

Runs February 8 - 16, 2012, two weekends
