Things Are Certainly Changing

By Marilyn Morris, Founder/President

Sometimes change is good and brings a positive impact on society, other times it feels like we're taking giant steps backwards. When that happens, we're often left scratching our heads and wondering, "Is our country going crazy?" Such is the case in three shocking headline stories.

HEADLINE #1:The American Academy of Pediatrics Encourages All Pediatricians to Provide Teenage Patients with the Morning After Pill.

So Mom takes her 14-year-old daughter to the doctor. Mom steps out while the doctor examines her daughter. The doctor then asks the girl if she's sexually active. Even if she says no, the doctor is encouraged by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the nation's largest pediatric association, to provide her with a prescription for the Morning After Pill so she's prepared - for when the time is right.

HEADLINE #2: New York City High Schools Provide Free Contraception to Students.

I reported on this a few weeks ago where 13 NYC high schools are now providing free Morning After Pills, Birth Control Pills and Depo Provera to their students - without parental notification. Thus, NYC has now allowed 14 to 18-year-olds to declare independence from their parents when it comes to sexual decisions.

HEADLINE #3: Americans Favor Legalization of Marijuana.

With Colorado and the state of Washington recently legalizing the use of Pot, the country is left questioning whether this is a good idea. Yet, if an election were held today, most polls indicate it would pass rather substantially. With such a lax attitude among adults, it's no wonder the use of Marijuana and Ecstasy are up among teenagers.

Between the headlines and polls, it appears America is giving a thumbs up to teens having sex and a thumbs down to the War on Drugs. But we at Aim For Success have not given up on young people. I'm pleased to report the number of programs and the number of students seeing our programs have significantly increased this year. And I assure you as long as there are schools who want their students to save sex for marriage and avoid drugs, alcohol and bullying - Aim For Success will be focused on providing our life-changing programs.

If you appreciate what Aim For Success is doing, your year-end tax-deductible donation of $10, $25, $50 or more will be put to good use. Together, we will make a difference. To donate click the box below or send your tax-deductible donation to Aim For Success P.O. Box 550336 Dallas, TX 75355.

Here's a clever idea...Yesterday a gentleman called our office and said he was so wowed by our programs back when his children were young that he wanted to donate $2,000 to go toward programs for schools that would otherwise not be able to afford our presentations. We told him we would schedule the programs then let him know when and where they would take place so he could witness the results of his donation first hand, if he so desired. What an amazing gift!
