When schools first started handing out free condoms, there was an outcry by parents. Eventually, the waters settled. What's Up with STDs?

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), teen sexual activity rates have significantly dropped since the early 1990s which directly coincides with the introduction of abstinence education. Therefore, it's no surprise that teen pregnancy, birth and abortion rates have also significantly dropped over the past 20 plus years. However, the CDC also states that condom use is up among those teens that are having sex. That would lead one to believe the STD rates should have also significantly dropped. But according to the CDC, STD rates have NOT decreased, "particularly among teens." (CDC, National Health Statistics Reports, #56: August 16, 2012)
