In-depth, National Analysis to Launch in October

Did you know that nearly one in three women give birth by C-section in the U.S.?

In October, The Leapfrog Group will launch a dedicated campaign to educate patients about the risks and benefits of C-sections. For the first time, patients and purchasers across the country will be able to easily find out their own hospital's C-section rate.

Leapfrog will be analyzing the 2015 Leapfrog Hospital Survey data to determine how many hospitals are meeting our standard for C-section rates for low-risk women. Working with a number of national and state-based partners, we hope to spark a national conversation about C-sections.

Leapfrog urges all hospitals to review their publicly reported NTSV C-Section rate prior to the announcement. If you need to make any corrections to your survey responses, please contact the Help Desk.

Please stay tuned for our official announcement in October.

Leapfrog Teams Up with DHG Healthcare on National Pilot

Leapfrog is partnering with DHG Healthcare to pilot an on-site data verification of the Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The pilot program was designed to complement the rigorous data review process that Leapfrog currently uses to ensure the integrity of data submitted to the Leapfrog Hospital Survey.

By partnering with DHG Healthcare to conduct this work, and leveraging both their clinical expertise and experience in value-based purchasing, Leapfrog can ensure that purchasers and patients have access to the most reliable data on hospital safety, quality, and efficiency.
SurveyTaking a Stand Against Diagnostic Errors
Leapfrog Joins National Leaders in New Coalition

The numbers are shocking: 1 in 10 medical diagnoses is wrong, and the errors cause an estimated 40,000 to 80,000 deaths a year. To combat this critical patient safety issue, Leapfrog has joined a dozen leading healthcare organizations and medical societies to form the Coalition to Improve Diagnosis.

The potential impact of our work is hinging on the findings and recommendations from the National Academy of Medicine's forthcoming report, to be released September 22nd. Tune in today for their special release event.

Pre-order your 2015 competitive benchmarking report

Leapfrog's competitive benchmarking reports utilize data submitted through the 2015 Leapfrog Hospital Survey to offer hospitals insights on how they compare nationally and regionally. Hospitals that completed a 2015 survey by June 30 are eligible to receive a free summary report. Free reports will be mailed to all hospital CEOs in mid-September.

If your hospital wants more detailed information, choose a report that lets you compare critical aspects of your care to Leapfrog's database of over 1,500 hospitals. Excellent tools for improving quality, these special competitive reports engage board members and administrators, clinical staff and support staff, and were developed at the request of hospitals. Hospitals can pre-order reports now; reports will be available in mid-September.

Leapfrog President and CEO to Keynote Oct 15-16 Event

Leah Binder will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming meeting of the ACO and Emerging Healthcare Delivery Coalition, to be held October 15-16, 2015, in Palm Harbor, Florida. The Coalition, an initiative of The American Journal of Managed Care, brings together stakeholders from across healthcare to share ideas for navigating the changing reimbursement landscape.

Founded in 2000 by large employers and other purchasers, The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American health care. The flagship Leapfrog Hospital Survey collects and transparently reports hospital performance, empowering purchasers to find the highest-value care and giving consumers the lifesaving information they need to make informed decisions. The Hospital Safety Score, Leapfrog's other main initiative, assigns letter grades to hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents, and infections.
