British Invasion- Alex Monroe

Although we at Handscapes specialize in American Craft, we confess to having been charmed by Alex Monroe's lovely designs.

Baby Bee Necklace

From an early age, Alex has had a great love for the natural world. Growing up in the Suffolk countryside, he was surrounded by all manner of plants and animals.

Rabbit necklace

Because of this, nature has become a strong theme throughout his work. He has the wonderful ability to take precious metals and imbue them with the attributes of delicate objects such as light and floaty feathers, dainty flowers or the glossy fur of a curious woodland creature.

Having trained at the Sir John Cass School of Art in London, Alex started making his own jewelry in 1986 out of a small workshop in a picturesque, Victorian cobbled yard in south London. To this day, all of his jewelry is still hand made by a team of highly skilled jewelers in that same studio.

Fun Fleecy Animals from Cate & Levi

Cate and Levi are famous for their wonderful hand puppets and stuffed animals made from recycled sweaters. Now they have a new line of puppets and animals, made from fleece. These critters are all made from recycled plastic that is turned into a soft fleece material perfect for making eco-friendly stuffed animals that are safe and perfect for kids of all ages. AND they are washable!

Meet beautiful blonde Ruby and brunette Aries. Ruby is 15 years old and Aries is 13 years old. They enjoy walking in Beaufort and visiting staff at Handscapes every Sunday morning with their human, artist Lisa Tuchek, whose work is featured above. Here, they are cuddling with our own Sasha.
