Sarah Richardson |
"Within each piece, I create an intriguing balance between jewelry and the body, and an intensity which draws others to it."
| Sterling silver pod earrings |
Coming from a long line of artisans, it was a natural choice for Richardson to follow her passion for art. Sarah studied Metalsmithing at Rhode Island School of Design, with further design studies in Germany.
| Sterling silver pod necklace |
After graduating, Sarah moved to New York and designed custom jewelry for a fine jewelry gallery in the West Village, taught metalsmithing at the 92nd Street Y, and focused on fine art jewelry. In 2006, she returned to CA and set up her own studio in Mill Valley, CA, where she now resides.
Sarah Richardson's jewelry is a process of evolving designs. Drawn to the organic quality of each individual pod, a repetition of these elements creates geometric form. Using traditional wax carving techniques, each piece is hand carved, then cast in sterling.
Using heat to bring the fine metal to the surface, each piece is then polished on the edges creating an interior glow. Sarah's gold pieces are a very fine quality 18k gold vermeil (18k gold over sterling silver).

Suzy Landa
|
"I grew up in Los Angeles with a passion for making pretty things. The "craft closet" in my childhood home was packed with all sorts of things, and any combination of random items could become a new piece of wearable art.
I turned my childhood passion into a business in 2003 after leaving a first career in the movie industry, studying metalsmithing, and subsequently discovering that making pretty things could indeed qualify as a 'real' job. My initial small collection earned the the label 'Rising Star' at my very first trade show, JCK Las Vegas, 2004.

Drawn to striking shapes and colors, and influenced by mid-century art, architecture, and graphic design, I create jewelry that marries an old world air with a modern flair.

18k gold drop earrings with diamonds
|
As a jewelry artist, I am as picky about the materials with which I work as I am about the craftsmanship. My attention to detail is evident in the work.
I don't acquiesce to market theories and alleged trends. Rather I sell clients on the value of my work - quality of materials, craftsmanship, artistic originality - that has little to do with price."

18k gold and diamond pendant
|
The Suzy Landa Jewelry customer is a woman who favors timelss statement pieces over disposable, only temporarily "hot" ones. She is confident in her own sense of style, ignores what everyone else is buying, and knows what she loves the moment she sees it. She expects to love her pieces in 10 years as much as she does on that first day.

Fun and Functional
|
Richard Collison's gorgeous sea-inspired glazed hues remind one of the beauty of the beach, ocean and sky. All pots are hand built or thrown on the wheel and fired at 2300 degree F. The clay and glazes are non-toxic and oven, microwave and dishwasher safe.Richard's work ranges from the humorous to the utilitarian, the whimsical to the sublime. He has a line of Happy Heads, whimsical clay creatures whose mouths hold keys, toothpicks, change, as well as utilitarian pots like the berry bowl. His one-of-a-kind hand-built creations are totally unique.

Wanna know where the story of Spanish Privateers invading Beaufort in 1747 comes from? There have been many years between then and now, but one thing for sure is that this beautiful little coastal town in North Carolina continues to draw pirates, privateers and history buffs from all over the world.
