Melrose Run for Women Set for May 11

On Sunday, May 11, the Melrose Running Club will host the 17th Annual Melrose Run for Women, a 3.5-mile, women's only road race that has become a local Mother's Day tradition. Registration is now open for this year's race; visit the Melrose Running Club's Web site for more information! Sign up today to run or walk with us this year. All of the money raised from this amazing event goes toward supporting MAAV's violence prevention initiatives. We hope to see you there!

Honor a Woman in Your Life with a Personal Sponsorship of the MRFW

You can honor a special woman in your life - whether it's your mother, grandmother, sister, or friend - with a Personal Sponsorship of this year's Melrose Run for Women. Personal Sponsorships cost $100, and the names of all of the women honored will be printed on the official race t-shirt that's given to all race participants. A card acknowledging your donation also will be sent to those being honored. All of the proceeds from the race, including these Personal Sponsorships, support MAAV.

Personal sponsorships can be purchased online, or by sending a check for $100 made payable to MAAV and the name of the woman you'd like to honor to us at: 235 West Foster Street, Melrose MA 02176. Please specify whether you'd like your donation to be made "In Honor of" or "In Memory of" and spell the name exactly as you'd like it printed on the t-shirt. When applicable, please also include the address where you would like the card sent.

The funds raised each year at the Melrose Run for Women are incredibly important to MAAV. The money is used to support all of our violence prevention initiatives, including the Melrose CARES Community Mentoring Program. Learn more about the Mentoring Program, and the impact it has on both the mentored students and the adult volunteers in this brief video!

New Mentoring Coordinator Joins MAAV

We're thrilled to introduce the newest member of MAAV's staff: Alison Bryer is joining our team as the Mentoring Program Coordinator. Alison is a licensed clinical social worker with 20 years of experience working with youth and their families. She helped launch the Nurturing Families Program at the North Suburban YMCA in Woburn, a program that is very similar to our Melrose CARES Community Mentoring Program. Alison lives in Melrose with her family.

Mentors Needed!
We're in need of a few good men and women to serve as mentors for a new group, beginning in the fall. Please click here for more information about the mentoring program, or contact us online or at (781) 662-2010.
