SALT SHORTAGE | |
The bitter temperatures and excessive stretches of cold have made salting operations excessive in comparison to years past. Like all surrounding communities, Homewood is running very low on road salt. Effective today, Public Works will no longer be salting side streets. The salting operations are reduced to mixing sand and/or slag in with the remaining stockpile of salt the Village has on-hand and only salting intersections.
For more information, please call Public Works Department at 206-3470. |

WATER METER REPLACEMENT PROGRAM | |
Residents will be receiving a letter with information about the Water Meter Replacement Program. The Village of Homewood will be starting the implementation of the water meter replacement, which will take place over the next several months. The purpose of the Water Meter Replacement Program is to replace the majority of the 6,700 water meters within the Village as they are over 20 years old and have exceeded their useful life and to move toward a monthly water bill for residents rather than one every quarter. Many of our residents have inquired about switching to a monthly water bill and the new meter will make this possible by automatically transmitting readings to the Village. The new system will overall improve accuracy, customer service and efficiency for all. Click here for more information about Homewood's Water Meter Replacement Program. |
