CRITICAL INCIDENT DRILL

Wednesday| July 31

8:00 AM to 12:00 PM

The Homewood Police Department, in cooperation with School District 153, is conducting a Critical Incident Drill on Wednesday, July 31 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at James Hart Junior High and Millennium Middle School. Homewood Police units will respond to a staged incident with assistance from neighboring law enforcement agencies. Please do not call 9-1-1 to report Police Activity during this time period at this location.

This drill focuses on coordinating response and communication between Homewood departments as well as with other south suburban emergency units. The Homewood Fire Department, Public Works Department, and volunteer role players will also participate in the drill.

The Critical Incident Drill takes place when the schools are closed and students will not be in attendance. Aberdeen Street, between Hickory Road and 183rd Street will be closed to traffic for this drill.  183rd Street will remain open but please expect delays. Residents in the area will continue to have access to their homes during the drill. However, residents living on Aberdeen should park their vehicles on Elder, Olive, or Hickory before 8:00 AM. For more information visit www.HomeSweetHomewood.com or contact Deputy Chief William Alcott at (708-) 206-3420.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN IN HOMEWOOD

Resurfacing of 183rd Street is projected to start on August 12, 2013.  The resurfacing will extend from Riegel Road to Halsted Street and is scheduled to be completed within 5 weeks, weather permitting.

The work to be performed under this contract consists of minor curb and sidewalk repair, asphalt surface removal, leveling binder, new asphalt surface course, pavement marking, traffic signal detector loop replacement and any other incidental and collateral work necessary to complete the project.

This section of 183rd Street will remain open throughout construction; however, expect delays when traveling during the day.  Any questions about this project should be directed to the Homewood Village Engineer, Max Massi, at (708) 206-3470.
